Hedge Planting

Hedge Planting

Legacy Habitat Management offer professional large contract hedge planting as a means of creating or reinstating the traditional hedgerows of the UK.

Legacy Habitat Management have the expertise and resources to carry out large scale hedgerow planting projects across the UK where existing hedgerows are at risk from development or boundaries need re-alignment due to other necessary works. The planting or preservation of hedgerows may also form part of a Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP).

Hedgerows have long been a feature of the British landscape. Many were likely to have been planted under the Enclosures Acts of the early 19th Century, however, some are considered to be ancient and maybe up to 1000 years old.

They are visually important as a key part of the British landscape where the flora species mix making up the hedgerow can be very distinct to a certain area of the UK. More importantly, however, they provide vital habitat resources for many of the UK's native fauna species.

The diversity of flora species making up a hedgerow can directly affect the species of mammal, bird and insect species that it supports due to the varying flowering and fruiting times of the composite species. It is therefore important that the planting mix complements the surrounding wildlife environment.

Legacy Habitat Management will work closely with you to ensure that hedgerow planting is carried out efficiently and that the correct planting mix is achieved to ensure that a diverse and successful habitat is created.
