In The Beginning....

Legacy Habitat Management was formed in 1992 from humble beginnings. The main scope of services offered at this time was dry-stone walling, hedge-laying, agricultural fencing, woodland management and traditional countryside management. Most contracts were carried out in and around the Sheffield area and Peak District National Park.

Some key contracts completed in these early days included the construction of dry-stone bird hides atBlackbird Meadows regeneration area for Sheffield City Council, 1000m of traditional grit stone dry-stone walling on farm land in the Peak District National Park, and 7ha scrub clearing in Gratton Dale forNatural England.

From these beginnings a reputation for quality workmanship and a 'can-do' attitude began to emerge. This enabled the business to develop and take on larger contracts. In 2002, Legacy completed the first stage of a feature decorative dry-stone wall for Sheffield City Council at Deep Pits on the Manor Estate as part of inner city regeneration works which continued until 2006.

In 2003, Legacy Habitat Management became a private limited company and in 2004 acquired purpose built business premises with dedicated office and warehouse space. This provided a space to store materials and equipment, and the office space enabled Legacy to establish professional head-quarters from which to run contracts and develop the business. Also in 2003, Legacy undertook their first newt fencing contract and began to develop strong working relationships with ecologists and civil engineering contractors undertaking protected species mitigation.

As part of these developments, Legacy Habitat Management Ltd developed a website at www.legacy-habitat.co.uk. This kick started a keen interest in the use of internet technologies as a business tool and we have since embraced all aspects of internet development and continue to stay at the forefront of new technologies.

Work for ecologists continued steadily and enabled us to develop our skills and techniques for installing quality wildlife mitigation fencing, quickly and efficiently.

In 2007, and in response to market demand, Legacy Habitat Management Ltd launchedwww.wildlifefencing.co.uk as an online retail outlet for wildlife mitigation materials. Legacy had developed a range of materials for wildlife fencing installations in accordance with Natural England specifications. The success and performance of these materials enabled us to offer a range of quality products to the ecological mitigation market place. This also gave rise to the term 'Wildlife Fencing', a phrase that has since gained recognition in the field. Wildlifefencing.co.uk has since expanded to supplyelectric fencing products.

Our products are now marketed under the 'Caudon' brand to provide specialist wildlife fencing systems and other wildlife mitigation and fencing products.

In recent years we have invested heavily in training and can offer dedicated plant and machine operators to ensure in-house skills and staff who have knowledge of all aspects of the work and of working in sensitive environments. All our staff holds valid CSCS and CCNSG certification and we have also acquired CHAS and ISO 9001 accreditations for the business.

Legacy Habitat Management Ltd continue to develop products, services and working practices to provide a safe, professional and cost effective service to our customers. We welcome any feedback that may help us to improve the services that we offer.
